SFG

abbreviationStandard termElectronics

A signal-flow graph is a visual network diagram that represents a set of simultaneous linear algebraic equations.

A signal-flow graph (SFG) maps out how signals move through a complex system, using nodes for system variables and directed branches for the multipliers or transfer functions between them. Engineers use these graphs to simplify complex feedback networks and calculate overall system transfer functions. They are heavily relied upon in control theory and analog filter design to visualize mathematical relationships without writing out endless matrices.
