Quadripole

nounStandard termElectronics

A circuit network modeled as a black box with two input terminals and two output terminals.

A quadripole, often called a two-port network, is an electrical circuit element characterized by one pair of terminals for the input signal and another pair for the output. Engineers use quadripole models to analyze complex filters, amplifiers, and transmission lines using matrix parameters like Z, Y, or S parameters. This abstraction allows the calculation of voltage and current transfer functions without knowing the internal component layout.
