Power-hungry

adjectiveShop talkElectronics

Describing a component or circuit that draws an unusually high amount of electrical current.

A power-hungry device consumes a large amount of wattage during operation, often requiring robust power supplies and extensive thermal management. Engineers use this term to describe processors, graphics cards, or display backlights that drain batteries quickly or push the limits of a system's thermal design power. Managing these components is a major challenge in mobile and embedded design.
