Epitaxial Integrated Circuit refers to a semiconductor manufacturing technique where a crystalline overlayer is grown on a substrate, maintaining the same crystal structure. This epitaxial layer provides a highly controlled, lightly doped region where transistors and other components are fabricated, while the substrate provides mechanical support and a different doping profile. It is a foundational process in bipolar and CMOS fabrication.
The new fabrication line will focus entirely on EPIC processes to improve our transistor isolation.
