Gadolinium gallium garnet is a synthetic crystalline material with excellent mechanical and thermal properties. In semiconductor and microwave manufacturing, it serves as a non-magnetic substrate for growing yttrium iron garnet films and other magneto-optical components. Its lattice structure closely matches these films, allowing for high-quality epitaxial growth used in optical isolators and microwave circulators.
