Capacitively

adverbStandard termElectronics

Describes a connection or coupling where signals transfer through an electric field rather than a direct wire.

Pertaining to the transfer of electrical energy between two conductive bodies separated by a dielectric. When a circuit is capacitively coupled, alternating current signals can pass through the electric field while direct current is blocked. Engineers often use this property to isolate different DC bias levels between amplifier stages.

Heard on the job

The two amplifier stages are capacitively coupled to keep their DC bias networks independent.
