Coupling

nounStandard termElectronics

The transfer of electrical energy from one circuit segment to another.

The intentional or unintentional transfer of energy between adjacent electronic circuits. Intentional coupling is usually achieved through capacitors or transformers to pass AC signals while blocking DC bias. Unintentional coupling, such as capacitive or inductive crosstalk between parallel traces, introduces noise and degrades signal integrity.

Heard on the job

We need to increase the spacing between these traces because the inductive coupling is causing false triggers on the clock line.
