The final section of an exhaust system that vents combustion gases into the atmosphere.

The rearmost length of tubing in a vehicle's exhaust routing, connecting the muffler to the open air. It directs hot, toxic exhaust gases safely away from the passenger compartment and bodywork. The diameter and tip design can influence exhaust note and backpressure.
