Stakebed

nounStandard termAutomotive

A flatbed truck body equipped with removable vertical posts and slatted sides to enclose cargo.

A commercial vehicle configuration featuring a flat, open cargo area surrounded by a series of sockets along its perimeter. Removable wooden or metal stakes fit into these sockets, supporting horizontal slats to form a temporary wall. This design allows operators to easily load bulky items from any side with a forklift, then secure the perimeter for transport.
