Straddling bus

nounStandard termAutomotive

A proposed mass transit vehicle designed to drive over multiple lanes of traffic.

An experimental elevated bus concept where the passenger cabin spans across road lanes, supported by side legs running on rails or dedicated tracks. This allows regular car traffic to flow underneath the vehicle. The design aims to combine the capacity of light rail with the infrastructure of existing roadways, though it remains largely conceptual due to clearance and safety challenges.
