A combined exhaust manifold and catalytic converter assembly bolted directly to the cylinder head. This integrated design allows the catalyst to reach its operating temperature much faster after a cold start, reducing emissions. Because the two components are fused, a failure in either the manifold or the catalyst requires replacing the entire expensive unit.
The customer came in with a cracked exhaust, but unfortunately it's a maniverter so the repair bill just tripled.
When replacing a maniverter, always check the oxygen sensors mounted directly in the housing, as they often seize from the extreme heat cycles.
