The New European Driving Cycle is an older laboratory test used to measure vehicle fuel economy and emissions.

The New European Driving Cycle is a standardized testing protocol that simulates urban and extra-urban driving to evaluate fuel consumption, emissions, and electric vehicle range. It relies on highly idealized, flat-road acceleration profiles with the air conditioning turned off, resulting in highly optimistic figures. It has largely been replaced by the WLTP standard, which provides a more realistic estimate of real-world driving.

Heard on the job

The brochure claims 300 miles of range on the NEDC cycle, but you'll be lucky to get 220 in the real world.
