This metric measures the time from the instant hydraulic pressure forces the brake pads against the rotors until the pressure is released or the vehicle comes to a complete halt. Engineers use this data to calculate heat buildup, pad wear rates, and the effectiveness of automated emergency braking systems. It excludes driver reaction time and the mechanical delay of the pedal stroke.
