All-season tire

nounStandard termAutomotive

A tire designed with a tread pattern and rubber compound meant for year-round use in moderate climates.

An all-season tire compromises between the extreme grip of a summer compound and the deep-snow traction of a winter tire. The rubber block design evacuates water to prevent hydroplaning while remaining hard enough to provide a long tread life. In the trade, they are considered a jack-of-all-trades but master of none, losing significant grip when ambient temperatures drop below freezing.
