Butterfly valve. Fitters, estimators and mechanical contractors write BFV on takeoffs, submittals and tag lists, and say it aloud as letters. It usually implies a resilient-seated wafer or lug valve with a lever or gear operator in water, chilled water or fire service, as opposed to a high-performance or triple-offset valve, which people name in full.
Need four 8 inch lug BFVs with gear ops for the chiller isolation, and grab the tamper switches for the fire line ones.
