A zeptoliter (zL) is an SI unit of volume representing 10^-21 liters. It is an extremely small volume, equivalent to a cube with sides of about 10 nanometres. Chemists and nanotechnologists use zeptoliters when discussing the contents of synthetic vesicles, viral capsids, or single-molecule reaction chambers.
