Gigagram

unitStandard termUnits

A metric unit of mass equal to one billion grams, which is exactly equivalent to one kilotonne.

A gigagram represents one billion (10⁹) grams, or one million kilograms. While it is a standard SI multiple, most industries prefer to use the equivalent term kilotonne when dealing with masses of this scale. It occasionally appears in atmospheric science and environmental reporting to quantify large-scale greenhouse gas emissions or global crop yields.
