Yem

nounStandard termTextiles

A traditional Vietnamese bodice featuring a halter neckline and a diamond or V-shaped hem.

This garment consists of a simple piece of cloth draped over the torso, secured by strings tied behind the neck and across the back. Originally worn as an undergarment beneath heavier layers, it eventually transitioned into a standalone top. The cut exposes the shoulders and back while providing lightweight coverage for the chest in hot climates.

We're drafting a yem for the cultural exhibition, so pay close attention to the bias cut on the front panel to ensure it drapes correctly.
