Swimcap

nounStandard termTextiles

A tight-fitting head covering worn to keep hair contained while swimming.

A close-fitting cap made from silicone, latex, or Lycra that covers the hair and ears. It reduces hydrodynamic drag in the water and protects the wearer's hair from chlorine or salt. While often called waterproof, most fabric and latex versions allow some water seepage, primarily serving to keep hair out of the face and pool filters.
