Mock turtleneck

nounStandard termTextiles

A knit collar that stands up around the neck but does not fold over.

This neckline finish consists of a tubular band of ribbing attached to the neck opening. Unlike a traditional turtleneck, which is cut long enough to fold back on itself, this collar is drafted shorter and stands as a single layer against the throat. It provides a clean, fitted look with less bulk and less fabric consumption.

Heard on the job

Cut the neckbands at two inches so they sew up as a mock turtleneck rather than a full roll.
