Boot cut

adjectiveStandard termTextiles

A trouser silhouette that flares slightly from the knee to the hem.

A style of pants or jeans tailored to be fitted through the thigh and knee, then widening gradually down to the ankle. The slight flare provides exactly enough circumference at the hem to comfortably accommodate the shaft of a heavy boot without bunching.

Heard on the job

The client wants a classic boot cut, so grade the hem opening out by an extra inch starting just below the knee notch.
