Hamming code

nounStandard termTelecom & IT

A family of linear error-correcting codes used in digital communication and memory.

A mathematical error-correction technique that adds redundant parity bits to a data payload. These codes can detect up to two simultaneous bit errors and correct single-bit errors without requiring the sender to retransmit the data. They are widely used in error-correcting computer memory and basic digital radio transmissions.
