Guaranteed bitrate defines the minimum data transfer rate that a network commits to providing for a specific bearer or connection. It is heavily used in LTE and 5G networks to ensure real-time applications like voice calls and live video streams do not suffer from packet loss or excessive latency during network congestion. If the network cannot allocate the required resources for a GBR bearer, the connection is rejected.
