A flash cut is a high-risk deployment strategy where a legacy telecom switch or network system is completely shut down the exact moment the replacement system is turned on. Unlike a phased migration where traffic is slowly migrated and tested, this method forces all users onto the new infrastructure at once. It minimizes the time spent running redundant hardware but leaves no fallback if the new system fails upon activation.

We're scheduled to do a flash cut on the PBX at midnight, so make sure all the new SIP trunks are fully tested.
