Effective radiated power is a measurement of radio frequency energy that takes into account transmitter output power, transmission line losses, and the directional gain of the antenna. It represents the power that a theoretical half-wave dipole antenna would need to emit to produce the same signal strength in the target direction. Regulatory bodies use this metric to set limits on broadcast stations to prevent interference.
The license limits our ERP to 50 kilowatts, so if we upgrade to a higher gain antenna, we've to turn down the transmitter output.
