Extended Integrated Drive Electronics is a historic hardware interface used to connect hard drives and optical drives to a computer motherboard. It improved upon the original IDE standard by supporting larger drive capacities, faster data transfer rates, and the ability to connect up to four devices instead of two. It uses a 40-pin ribbon cable and was eventually superseded by SATA.
Check the jumper settings on that EIDE drive to make sure it's configured as the master before you boot the system.
