Enhanced Data rates for GSM Evolution (EDGE) is a backward-compatible digital mobile phone technology that acts as a bolt-on enhancement to 2G and 2.5G GPRS networks. By introducing 8-PSK modulation, it tripled the data capacity of standard GPRS, offering theoretical speeds up to 384 kbps. While largely obsolete in developed markets, EDGE still serves as a fallback network for voice and basic telemetry in rural areas with poor 3G or 4G coverage.
The site router went offline, and the backup modem dropped all the way down to EDGE, so the logs are taking forever to pull.
