Double small pica

nounStandard termPrinting

An historic metal type size measuring twenty-one or twenty-two points.

A traditional name for a large size of cast metal type, measuring 22 points in the American system and 21 points in the British system. It is exactly twice the height of small pica, which is an 11-point font. Because it falls awkwardly between the more common 18-point and 24-point display sizes, it was used less frequently than double pica.
