Tensile test in which the full width of a narrow strip is clamped and pulled to break.

A strip, commonly 50 mm wide, is gripped across its whole width and stretched at a constant rate, giving breaking force per strip width and elongation at break. European specs usually quote it in newtons per 5 cm. It is the reference strength test for most hygiene and wipes fabrics.
