Fell

nounStandard termMining

The fine particles of ore that pass through a sizing screen.

The undersized fraction of crushed rock or ore that falls through the meshes of a sorting screen or grizzly. Separating the fell from the larger lumps ensures that subsequent milling or smelting equipment is fed with material of a uniform size, optimizing the recovery process.

Heard on the job

Sweep the fell from under the trommel and send it straight to the flotation circuit.
