A smaller, offshoot vein of ore that diverges from the primary mineralized body and extends downward into the surrounding country rock. Geologists and miners track droppers because they can lead to parallel ore bodies or contain high-grade pockets of concentrated minerals. They often pinch out as they get deeper.
