Cyanidation

nounStandard termMining

A metallurgical process that uses a weak cyanide solution to extract gold and silver from ore.

The primary hydrometallurgical method for recovering precious metals from crushed ore. The rock is exposed to a dilute sodium cyanide solution, which dissolves the gold or silver into a water-soluble coordination complex. The pregnant solution is then separated from the barren tailings, and the gold is recovered using activated carbon or zinc precipitation.

We need to optimize the grind size before sending the feed to the cyanidation tanks to improve our recovery rate.
