Ultrasonic bath

nounStandard termProduction

A tank of liquid that uses high-frequency sound waves to clean intricate parts or mix substances.

An ultrasonic bath cleans components by generating high-frequency sound waves in a fluid, usually water or a specialized solvent. These waves create microscopic cavitation bubbles that implode with immense force, knocking grease, machining chips and contaminants off the submerged parts. It is highly effective for cleaning complex geometries, blind holes and delicate assemblies without using abrasive mechanical force.
