Roll-to-roll

adjectiveStandard termProduction

A continuous processing method where a flexible material is unwound, treated, and rewound.

Roll-to-roll manufacturing feeds a long web of substrate, such as plastic film, metal foil, or paper, through various stations. These stations might print, coat, laminate, or etch the material before it is spooled back onto an output roll. This method is highly efficient for high-volume production of items like flexible electronics, packaging, and solar panels because it avoids the start-and-stop delays of batch processing.
