Johnson thermoelectric energy converter

nounStandard termEnergy

A solid-state device utilizing a proton-exchange membrane to transform thermal energy directly into electrical current.

This apparatus forces hydrogen across a proton-exchange membrane by leveraging thermal gradients. Lacking mechanical components, the system functions bilaterally. It generates electricity when supplied with thermal energy, and conversely, it acts as a refrigeration unit when supplied with electrical current.
