An intermediate connection point on a transformer winding that allows operators to change the turns ratio. By selecting different connections, technicians can raise or lower the output voltage in small steps to compensate for grid fluctuations or line drop. These adjustments are made either while energized using an on-load tap changer or while de-energized.
The secondary voltage is running a bit low, so we need to move the tapping up one step during the next outage.
