Trimpot

nounShop talkElectronics

A small, adjustable resistor used for fine-tuning a circuit during manufacturing or calibration.

A trimpot is a miniature variable resistor mounted directly on a printed circuit board. Unlike panel-mount potentiometers meant for user interaction, trimpots are adjusted with a small screwdriver by technicians to set bias currents, calibrate reference voltages, or tune oscillator frequencies. Once set, they are rarely adjusted again and are often sealed with a dab of glue.
