A discrete-time analog circuit that delays a signal by moving discrete voltage samples along a chain of capacitors. At each clock pulse, transistors transfer the charge from one capacitor to the next, much like people passing buckets of water down a line. This architecture was widely used in early audio delay and chorus effects before digital memory became cheap and fast.
Heard on the job
The vintage chorus pedal uses a bucket brigade chip, which gives it that distinct, slightly degraded analog warmth.
