VC stands for VIP Cargo or Staff Transport, a designation used by the United States military for passenger aircraft dedicated to high-ranking officials. The most famous example is the VC-25, the modified Boeing 747 that serves as Air Force One. These airframes feature extensive secure communications, missile defense systems and specialized cabin layouts not found on standard transport planes.

Insider tip
While the C stands for cargo in standard military nomenclature, the V modifier changes the mission entirely to executive transport.
