The Lockheed F-104 Starfighter is a single-engine supersonic interceptor aircraft originally developed for the United States Air Force. It is famous for its missile-like fuselage and razor-sharp, stubby wings that provide minimal drag at high speeds. Pilots and mechanics know it as a challenging aircraft to fly, heavily reliant on speed rather than maneuverability to complete its missions.
We've a restored Starfighter on the ramp that still draws a crowd whenever the engine spools up.
The leading edges of the wings are so sharp that ground crews often cover them with protective pads to prevent injuries while working on the ramp.
