Minimum connecting time

nounStandard termAviation

The standard baseline time required to transfer a passenger and their baggage between two flights.

Minimum connecting time (MCT) is the standardized time buffer required by an airport to successfully transfer a passenger and their checked luggage from an arriving flight to a departing one. Airlines and booking systems use these calculated values to build legal itineraries. If a ticket violates the MCT, the airline is liable for rebooking the passenger when they inevitably miss the connection.

We can't sell that itinerary through O'Hare because a 35-minute layover violates the minimum connecting time.
