A wheel constructed from two or more interlocking metal pieces bolted or clamped together, rather than a single cast or stamped unit. These assemblies are primarily found on heavy commercial trucks, earthmovers, and military vehicles to handle extremely stiff sidewalls and high load capacities. They require specialized safety cages during inflation because a structural failure can explosively launch the locking ring.
