A shallow depression in the pavement surface, common in parking lots and flat areas, where water stands instead of draining. It comes from poor grading, settled base, or a hand-worked area that rolled down lower than the mat around it. Crews hunt birdbaths by flooding the surface with a water truck before final acceptance, then fix them with a skin patch or by milling and repaving the area.
