LC

LC turns up in 2 fields: fiber optics, aviation. Here is what it means to the people in each one.

Fiber Optics

Lucent Connector: the small latching connector with a 1.25 mm ferrule used on most transceivers and data center panels.

Lucent Connector, a small-form-factor push-and-latch connector with a 1.25 mm ferrule and a housing about half the size of an SC. Duplex LC clips two together for transmit and receive, matching the port spacing of SFP and QSFP transceivers. Its density made it the default connector for enterprise and data center patching.

"Transceiver is LC duplex but the panel is SC, so I need LC to SC jumpers, singlemode, two meter."

The designated area and infrastructure used to prepare and launch rockets.

The Launch Complex encompasses the launch pad itself along with all supporting facilities needed for a mission. This includes the umbilical tower, propellant storage tanks, flame trenches, and the blockhouse or firing room. Facilities are typically numbered, and major spaceports will have multiple complexes dedicated to different rocket families.

"Propellant loading is underway at LC-39A for this afternoon's liftoff."
