Code Division Multiple Access is a multiplexing technique where multiple users share the same frequency band at the same time. Instead of dividing the signal by time slots or narrow frequencies, it assigns a unique mathematical code to each transmitter's signal. The receiver uses the same code to extract the desired data from the combined background noise of all other transmissions.
We're phasing out the legacy CDMA network to free up spectrum for the new LTE deployment.
In the United States, Sprint and Verizon historically built their early mobile networks on CDMA, while most of the world used GSM.
