Base station

nounStandard termSurveying

A stationary GNSS receiver placed on a known coordinate to transmit corrections to a roving unit.

A high-precision GNSS receiver set up over a known survey monument. It continuously tracks satellite signals and calculates the error between its known location and the satellite-derived position. It then broadcasts these corrections via radio or cellular network to a rover, enabling real-time kinematic (RTK) surveying with centimeter-level accuracy.
