Analysis of variance partitions the total sum of squares into pieces attributable to each factor, interaction or grouping, plus a residual error. Each piece is divided by its degrees of freedom to give a mean square, and the ratio of a factor's mean square to the error mean square is an F statistic, compared with the F distribution to get a p-value. The same machinery estimates variance components in gauge studies and nested sampling plans.
ANOVA on the four chambers gives p of 0.003, so they're not matched. Chamber C is the odd one out.
