An optical surface design featuring a different radius of curvature in the center compared to the peripheral zones. This geometry is used to correct severe spherical aberration in high-power or wide-angle lenses without resorting to a fully aspheric, continuously varying curve, which is harder to manufacture.
Heard on the job
We specified a bispheric profile for the condenser to capture the high-angle marginal rays without distorting the core.
