Fixtureless in-circuit test is an inspection method that uses flying probes to verify the electrical integrity of an assembled PCB. Instead of pressing the board into a custom bed of nails, robotic arms move individual test pins rapidly across the test points to check for shorts, opens and correct component values.
Heard on the job
We're running FICT on this batch because building a custom test fixture for just fifty boards is too expensive.
Insider tip
FICT is much slower per board than a bed of nails, making it ideal for prototypes but terrible for high-volume production.
