Dozy

adjectiveShop talkForestry

Describes wood that is brittle, crumbling, and structurally compromised by fungal decay.

Wood that has been broken down by rot fungi to the point where it becomes dry, spongy, and easily crumbles into powder. Dozy timber has zero structural value and is a major hazard during felling because the holding wood can snap unpredictably instead of guiding the tree's fall.
